Welcome to the Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA) website at www.prmia.org ("Website"). PRMIA is a non-profit corporation that provides information and resources to risk management professionals worldwide. Throughout the explanation of this policy, PRMIA is sometimes collectively referred to as "we" or "us" and is inclusive to its staff members, board members and volunteer leaders, extending to each chapter. Users of the Website are referred to as "you." This privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") applies to transactions and activities in which you engage, data gathered by the Website, e-mail communications between you and PRMIA, and the Website public forum, weblogs, job postings service, and other means through which you may communicate and/or post information.

PRMIA is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy covers our treatment of personally identifiable information you voluntarily submit through your use of this website. Information Collection

PRMIA provides access to a multitude of services to PRMIA members and community members. PRMIA also makes available on its Website certain information to non-members. The information you voluntarily provide as part of the process of creating an account includes personally identifiable information such as name, address, email address, job title, employer, areas of professional interest, employment sector, and in addition, optional information you may provide includes your professional and academic experiences and photograph. In addition, account holders may voluntarily provide sensitive financial information such as credit card numbers, in registering for and purchasing courses, registering for events, registering for certification exams, purchasing books, or other financial transactions.

Current Personal Data you provide that we may collect and how it is used

  • Name (Membership requirement, personalized communications, identification, required for certification exam authorizations, course completion requirement, event registration verification)
  • Email (main contact with organization and used to log into the account. It is easy for the user to change this info or update their communication preferences at any time in their profile)
  • Address (Used for shipping products and notifying users of local events; required for certification exam authorizations; additionally, since PRMIA is international, this allows us to send relevant information to the user. It is easy for the user to remove this info or update at any time in their profile)
  • Phone (Second main contact point; requirement for certification exam authorizations)
  • Company (Identify which companies utilize our offerings, coordinate mass/group payments with employers, send more relevant information based on company profession, inform event and course planning, help facilitate community discussions, event registration verification)
  • Job Title (Identify which positions utilize our offerings, send more relevant information based on title, inform event and course planning, help facilitate community discussions and networking, event registration verification)
  • Industry (Send more relevant information based on their industry, inform event and course planning, help facilitate community discussions and networking)
  • Areas of Interest in Risk (Send more relevant information based on their interest, inform event and course planning, help facilitate community discussions and networking)
  • Start Date in Risk (Send more relevant information based on user career stage, inform event and course planning)
  • Photo area is optional and used in community area to assist with networking
  • Social Profiles are optional and used in in community area to assist with networking
  • Due payment information, including financial information such as credit/debit card and account numbers used to register or renew your membership.
  • Purchase information, relating to purchases made by members and non-members of event participation, books, reports, subscriptions either in-person or via our Site. Purchase information will include financial information as well as information concerning the content and time of the purchase.
  • Certification information, relating to certification programs, in which members are granted certification if they meet specified educational/employment experience requirements and/or pass an exam. This may include extensive information about the experience/performance of those certified or accredited. Where the certification concerns institutions or businesses, this may include similar information identifying employees and other members of staff including volunteers.

Personal Data we collect from you automatically

  • Technical information, including the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer or device to the Internet, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform;
  • Information about your visit, including pages you viewed or searched for, page response times, download errors, bounces, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), methods used to browse away from the page, and any phone number used to call our customer service number; and
  • Location information

Personal Data we collect from others

We may receive information about you from publicly available and third-party databases or services that provide information about business people that we believe will help us identify provide products and services that may be of interest to you. We will obtain your consent before contacting you if required by the law of the country in which you are located.

Non-Personal Data

We collect information that is sent to us automatically by your web browser and we may use this information to generate aggregate statistics about visitors to our Site, including, without limitation:

  • Device type (e.g., desktop, laptop, tablet, phone, etc.)

The information collected is used to facilitate your membership, to provide and facilitate the services you request, to customize your experience, to market certain services and events about which you may be interested or to connect you with members who share your interests. PRMIA does not share any of your personally identifiable information with any non-affiliate third parties for non-PRMIA purposes and non risk management industry related purposes.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

PRMIA shares information with its affiliates to the extent needed to process your requests, to fulfill the services you have requested, and all items listed in the “How We Use Your Information” section of this Privacy Policy.

We may share your Personal Data for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy with:

  • volunteer board and chapter officers and leaders who have signed volunteer agreements and confidentiality waivers.  
  • partners, suppliers and subcontractors, for the performance of obligations arising from your account, or any other contract we enter into with them or you or to provide you with the information, products and membership services that you request from us
  • analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimization of our Site
  • trusted third-party companies and individuals to help us provide, analyze, and improve the Site and our membership services (including but not limited to data storage, maintenance services, database management, web analytics and payment processing)

PRMIA uses third parties to process credit card transactions, to organize events, to manage and develop various online resources, and for other general services to support the Mission of PRMIA. We will only transfer your Personal Data to trusted third-parties who provide sufficient guarantees in respect of the technical and organizational security measures governing the processing to be carried out and who can demonstrate a commitment to compliance with those measures.

You may be sent emails or notifications in your PRMIA account profile to advise of a new feature or new resource available on the Website, or general communications related to your use of the Website. Networking

For purposes of facilitating the exchange of ideas and best practices, your name, title, company affiliation, city, state or province, county, areas of interest, background, photograph and PRMIA certification may be viewed by other members. You may opt to have this information unavailable to other members by changing your privacy options online.

Right to be Forgotten

You may request any of your information at any time and can also request that it be forgotten (permanently deleted) from the PRMIA database.  This request can be made by email or phone ([email protected] or +1-612-605-5370).  You will need to verify your identity before your information is removed.  Please note that removal of certain information may cause permanent deletion of exam scores, certification status and credentials.

PRMIA provides access to the Website solely for educational and networking purposes for its members. While access to the Website and participation in the various services provided on the Website is facilitated by PRMIA, PRMIA and its affiliates accept no responsibility for the opinions and information provided by others.
