Online Basel II and Risk Capital Allocation Forum Begins On Monday!!

July 31, 2002. We're fortunate to have an outstanding assembly of world experts on the proposed Basel II Capital Accord and Risk Capital Allocation practices. Debbie Williams of Meridien Research and PRMIA Boston Regional Director will be moderating the event, which starts on Monday August 5th and runs continuously through Friday the 9th. Panelists will exchange ideas with each other during the first two days and then the forum will be opened to all to post questions through the moderator.

Welcome David Steliski as New Regional Director for PRMIA Montreal

July 17, 2002. David Steliski has been named the new PRMIA Regional Director for Montreal. As we mentioned a few weeks ago, past Regional Director, Jean-Martin Aussant was getting ready to hand over the reigns of the chapter to a fellow Steering Committee member. David was nominated by the committee to assume the new role and was recently approved by the Board.

David is a Manager, Capital Markets in the Enterprise Risk Services group at Deloitte and Touche. He has an MSc in Applied Economics and a BBA in Finance and Economics from HEC in Montreal. He is also a CFA and a CRP. His past work experience includes time with the National Bank of Canada and Bank of Canada.

PRMIA Australia Has Successful Kick-Off Meeting

July 30, 2002. PRMIA Australia held its inaugural meeting with Mark Garman, Founder and CEO of FEA speaking to a full house. Congratualations to the Australia Steering Committee for a very successful event.

Said Darren Langer, Regional Director and PRMIA Vice Chair, "While Mark's paper on the uses of Marginal and Component VaR fed our minds, sponsor PWC's three-course lunch ensured a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the presentation." Thanks to PWC for being kind enough to expand the seating for the luncheon from 50 to over 70.
