Finance and Risk Management Career Conference

The PRMIA Edmonton chapter is proud to bring you the 2017 Finance and Risk Management Career Conference. The conference seeks to link students with industry professionals and firms so that students can explore potential career opportunities and learn more about desired skills, challenges and opportunities in the finance and risk management industries.

The Finance and Risk Management Career Conference consists of the following elements:

Financial and risk professionals will speak about their industries, their companies, the different careers within their firms, and the qualifications they typically look for. These presentations help participants understand the career options available in the finance and risk management industries, and the skills that hiring managers are typically looking for when recruiting for entry-level positions.
Kiosks, which run in parallel to the presentations, allow students to interact and discuss opportunities with potential employers. Participating companies include AIMCo, Aon Hewitt, ATB Financial, Freedom 55 Financial, National Home Warranty, Investors Group, and Sun Life Financial.
An expert panel talks about topics surrounding careers in finance and risk management and addresses questions from the audience.
A session provides information on the PRMIA Risk Management Challenge, which is a worldwide case competition that will simulate up-to-date and real-life risk management challenges.
There are networking opportunities during lunchtime.

Speakers and Participants

Speakers are professionals working in different areas of finance and risk management while participants are current undergraduate and graduate students or recent graduates, typically in economics, finance, mathematics or statistics. However, any student with an interest in a rewarding career in the finance or risk management industries is more than welcome to join us in this event.

12:45pm – 1:30pm: Panel Discussion on Finance and Risk Careers, moderated by Gary Smith (Head of Investment Strategy and Risk at the Alberta Teachers’ Retirement Fund) with the following panelists:
