PRMIA Announces Research Collaboration with Université Panthéon-Sorbonne and Capteo

The Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA) today announced that it has engaged in a research collaboration with the Research lab from Université Panthéon-Sorbonne and Capteo.

The collaboration will benchmark the risk role and assist practitioners in compliance with ECB regulatory requirements imposed. The Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process (SREP) impose some consistency to the review of risk management organization within banks in Europe. For France the decree of 3 November 2014 on internal control requires that companies in banking, payment services, and investment services that are subject to the Authority of Prudential and Resolution Control, must map their organization’s risks. The mapping of risks must take into account all risks involved, and the regulation reproduces the provisions of CRBF97-02 a little more detailing the minimum list of risks to be covered by the monitoring and risk control systems.

Survey participants will benefit from benchmark results for their mapping efforts, and additional results will be provided to those collaborating.

“In January, ECB’s Daniele Nouy pointed out the varying results of ICAAP and ILAAP obtained when performing the SREP,” said Pierre-Yves Maurois, PRMIA Global Board Member. “Knowing the current state of risk review mechanisms for banks is key to adapt organizations; the aim of this study is to provide a reliable source of current practices in complying with requirements from both regulations and the currently challenging financial environment.”
