PRMIA and CFA Institute Partner to Offer CFA Charterholders Special Access to Risk Management Certification
PRMIA and CFA Institute today announced their partnered focus on enhancing the career path of CFA charterholders by offering them the opportunity to gain practical knowledge of risk management with the Professional Risk Manager (PRM™) Designation.
The PRM, offered by PRMIA, is a globally recognized, graduate-level risk management credential designed to measure the knowledge of professional risk managers and ensure that they meet a specific performance standard in their profession. The PRM consists of four exams. The CFA® Program shares much in common with PRM Exams I and II, ensuring that CFA charterholders already have the necessary knowledge and skills to master the topics covered in these exams. CFA® charterholders are exempt from Exams I and II and are required to take Exams III and IV to receive their PRM designation.
Kraig Conrad, PRMIA CEO, shares, “We are pleased to work with CFA Institute to provide a broader understanding of risk management to CFA charterholders, offering knowledge and skills that are critical to financial professionals. By taking advantage of this exam exemption, CFA charterholders are able to save time and money in the PRM study and preparation process, and statistics show that they are scoring higher on their exams than non-CFA charterholders.”
"CFA Institute is thrilled to support PRMIA in creating this kind of stackable credential that integrates with the CFA Program and allows CFA charterholders to advance their knowledge of risk management,”
said Stephen Horan, Ph.D., CFA, CIPM, Managing Director, Credentialing, CFA Institute. “We applaud PRMIA for bringing this learning pathway to our members and look forward to supporting our members in it.”
The Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA) provides an open forum for the development and promotion of the risk profession. With chapters around the world, PRMIA is a non-profit, member-led association dedicated to defining and implementing the best practices of risk management in a broad range of industries through education, including the PRM™ designation and certificate programs; webinar, online, classroom and in-house training; events; networking; and online resources.
