Revolution & Evolution – the Fintech Experience Unplugged

PRMIA Ireland invites to learn from two esteemed guest speakers will look at their respective Fintech journeys.

Peter Cripwell will take the lead on the Revolution, namely how to create, build, disrupt and scale a business, the ultimate Fintech Dream. Mark Byrne will look at the Evolution of Securities Finance and its response to the financial crisis of 2008 and EquiLend’s role as a provider of a suite of fintech products to the industry since 2001.

Peter Cripwell 

Peter Cripwell, whilst originally a physicist, has worked in finance for over 25 years. He began his career as a derivatives trader at US Merchant Bank Salomon Brother, then later became the Chief Investment Officer at Pioneer Alternative Investments, a Dublin based hedge fund with approximately €1.5bn AUM. After completing a PhD in finance from University College Dublin he was made Head of Markets at Delta Index, an on-line trading firm. Since 2011 he has been CEO of RiskSystem, a cloud based fintech that seamlessly delivers advanced risk management functionality to the funds management sector.

Mark Byrne

Mark Byrne is an Associate Director on the Post-Trade Services team at EquiLend, focused primarily on SFTR. Working out of EquiLend’s Dublin office, he is responsible for shaping, managing and delivering EquiLend’s SFTR solution and representing EquiLend in associated industry working groups and conferences. Previously, Byrne was an equity derivatives trader for Nomura in Hong Kong, and before that a securities lending operations manager at Nomura International Europe. He holds a BComm and MBS from University College Dublin and has over 15 years of experience in the securities finance industry.

Alan Bluett

Alan Bluett is Regional Director of the Irish Chapter of the PRMIA, a Patron of the Irish Association of Corporate Treasurers, a Member of the Institute of Bankers and a Fellow of the National Recruitment Federation. For his day job Alan is a Partner and Banking & Treasury Specialist with The Panel (An Executive Recruitment Firm) and has worked with company since 2004. Prior to this he has over 11 years’ work experience within Treasury in Dublin, where he was Associate Director and Head of Fixed Income Trading for RBS. He holds a BComm and MBS from University College Dublin.
