Structured Finance Securities and COVID-19

The pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus made significant impact across the fixed income markets in March. While there is some subsequent recovery in asset prices, the aftershocks will be felt for a long time in the economy and markets. In some ways, the economic impact of the pandemic may be more severe than what was experienced during the 2008-2009 financial crisis.

Kishore K. Yalamanchili

Kishore is an independent consultant in the investment management industry. Most recently, he was a senior member of Prudential Insurance’s Portfolio Strategy group, responsible for front line risk management, portfolio strategy and asset allocation for the $450B General Account portfolio. 

Prior to joining Prudential in 2015, Kishore was Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of Securitized Assets Research at Karya Capital Management, a macro hedge fund, from 2012 to 2015. Prior to Karya, Kishore served as Managing Director and Head of Securitized Assets Research and Trading at BlackRock from 2005 to 2011. At BlackRock he managed securitized assets across a broad range of portfolios which included insurance, hedge fund, total rate of return mandates.  Before BlackRock, he was a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager with State Street Research & Management from 1997 to 2005.  Before joining investment industry, Kishore worked in aerospace R&D at McDonnell Douglas. He also served as an Adjunct Professor at Harvard and Brandies Universities and published several papers in finance and engineering areas. Kishore has a Ph.D. in Engineering from Clemson University, and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
