Financial Crime Risk Management Workshop

Financial crime continues to evolve in both scale and sophistication, presenting significant challenges for financial institutions, corporates and public sector organizations alike. Traditional threats such as money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and corruption are now being combined with cybercrime, cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence, and increasingly complex cross-border criminal networks. As regulatory expectations continue to rise, organizations must adopt a proactive, risk-based approach to identifying, assessing, and managing financial crime risk.

This practical two-day workshop provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to the financial crime landscape and the frameworks used to manage these risks effectively. The course explores the full financial crime ecosystem, examining the motivations and methods of criminal actors alongside the roles of regulators, law enforcement agencies and financial institutions. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how financial crime occurs, the controls used to prevent and detect it, and the governance structures that underpin an effective financial crime risk management program.
Develop your expertise across two of today's fastest-evolving risk disciplines while enjoying exceptional value. By booking the Geopolitics and Financial Crime Risk Management Workshops together, you'll receive an exclusive bundle discount of approximately 15% compared with purchasing each workshop separately.

About This Course

Move beyond AML compliance and learn how to identify, assess and manage financial crime risk across your organization.

The workshop combines strategic discussion with practical application, covering customer due diligence (KYC), beneficial ownership, sanctions and politically exposed person (PEP) screening, transaction monitoring, suspicious transaction reporting (STRs/SARs), investigations, and emerging technologies. Through a range of real-world case studies and practical exercises, participants will learn how financial crime risks can be identified, assessed, and mitigated using a structured, risk-based approach aligned with international good practice and regulatory expectations.

This workshop bridges the gap between regulatory compliance and enterprise risk management. Participants will leave with a practical understanding of the tools, processes, and governance required to strengthen their organization's financial crime resilience and respond confidently to an increasingly complex and rapidly changing threat environment.

What sets this apart:

  • A risk management perspective rather than a purely compliance-focused AML course
  • Practical guidance from an experienced risk management and former MLRO practitioner
  • Covers the full financial crime landscape, including fraud, money laundering, sanctions, and emerging threats
  • Real-world case studies drawn from major financial crime investigations and enforcement actions
  • Interactive exercises to apply concepts to realistic business scenarios
  • Focus on governance, controls, and building an effective financial crime risk management framework
