The PRMIA AI Risk Management Certificate is a practical program designed to equip risk professionals with the knowledge and practical insight required to understand, evaluate, and govern artificial intelligence within modern organizations. The certificate begins with the foundations of AI, ensuring participants build a clear understanding of core concepts such as machine learning, data science, and the evolving AI landscape. Importantly, it goes beyond theory to explore the data infrastructure and ecosystem that underpin AI in a modern firm — including data management, platforms, and governance considerations that are critical for effective and responsible deployment.

From this foundation, the program examines how AI can act as a powerful enabler of risk management, supporting enhanced risk identification, measurement, monitoring, and decision-making. Participants will gain insight into how leading organizations are already leveraging AI to strengthen their risk frameworks and improve outcomes.

At the same time, the certificate provides a balanced and practical exploration of the risks introduced by AI, including model risk, data bias, cyber threats, ethical concerns, and regulatory challenges. It then brings these strands together by focusing on how AI should be governed and embedded within a firm’s broader Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, ensuring alignment with existing risk taxonomies, controls, and oversight structures.

This program has been developed based on extensive discussions, practitioner input, PRMIA chapter events and workshops across the global risk management community, ensuring that the content is grounded in real-world challenges and evolving industry practice.

Enrollment includes authorization to sit for the examination within 12 months of the order date and access to the related material, including the related eCoach course, for 36 months.
