PRMIA Netherlands 10th Anniversary Celebration

Ten years ago saw both the start of the Global Financial Crisis, and the launch of the PRMIA Netherlands chapter. To mark both anniversaries, we take a look back at the last ten years, and look forward to the next ten years.

• What have been the principal impacts of the financial crisis? To date, we have seen: Recession, Regulation, Nationalisation, Euro-crisis, Negative rates, Resurgent populism, and more!
• The post-crisis settlement is still not fully in place. For example, Basel4 and Banking Union remain to be finished; unwinding QE will take much longer.
• Looking ten years into the future: what are the factors which are transforming the Finance sector? Examples include Technology, Demographics, Climate change, and Geopolitics.
• How, as Risk Professionals should we adapt? What transformations are necessary to embrace Complexity?

Speakers

• Theo Kocken is professor of Risk Management at VU University Amsterdam and founder of Cardano. Before founding Cardano he was head of Market Risk at ING and Rabo.  He has written books and articles on risk management, pension fund design and financial markets and produced the documentary “Boom Bust Boom” on endogenous instability.
• Pim Poppe is currently Managing Partner of Probability & Partners a risk management consultancy firm. He also chairs the Education Committee at the Amsterdam Free University (VU). He was the Director of Group Risk Management of SNS Reaal (2004 to 2013) and the Director of Group Risk Management of Robeco (1996-2004). He started his career as an economist with ING. Pim graduated in macro-economics from the University of Amsterdam.
