 As energy businesses, insurers and financial institutions develop and begin to implement their net zero plans, the need to identify the risks and uncertainties and to update risk frameworks becomes more urgent. This joint PRMIA London and IECA expert panel will examine and debate the challenges and opportunities for CROs. Topics and themes will include:

Pat McKinnon
Pat’s career spans over 30 years from every facet of the energy supply chain. Prior to Founding Latigo, he was a Senior Director at Euler Hermes Energy, and earlier a Partner at Buffalo STX Energy, a consortium of small producers and developer of first and last mile assets. Before Buffalo STX, Pat held the position of Associate Director, Natural Gas – CME Group/NYMEX where he was responsible for product development and industry relations within the business line management team. Prior to his role at the CME Pat was the Executive Director – ConfirmHub LLC. Previous years Pat held senior positions in trading, operations and marketing for firms ranging from small first purchasers to larger integrated, international companies.

Recently Pat has accepted an appointment to the Advisory Board Member of Texas A&M University.

 

 
 
    Shargiil Bashir, Chief Sustainability Officer and Head of Corporate Governance  
Shargiil Bashir is the Chief Sustainability Officer and Head of Corporate Governance at First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB).
In this role, Shargiil is responsible for leading the bank’s ESG strategy and ensures compliance with best practices for corporate governance.
With over 20 years of experience, he led various aspects of corporate governance across 18 countries and played an integral role in implementing corporate governance regulations and best practices within the bank.
Prior to joining FAB in November 2020, Shargiil was the Group Head of Risk Quality Assurance at Danske Bank, based in Denmark. He is a seasoned banker and has a wealth of experience in corporate governance, risk management, risk assurance and sustainability.
Shargiil holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and an Executive MBA from the Copenhagen Business School, Denmark; and has completed executive education from INSEAD.
 
       
    Nasreen Kasenally is the Chief Risk Officer of UBS Asset Management & Group EMEA & Sustainability. She is a senior risk professional with over 24 years of experience mostly at UBS covering investment banking, asset and wealth management in New York and London. In her role as Chief Risk Officer, Nasreen is responsible for all financial risks within UBS Asset Management globally and in all the business divisions of UBS Group in EMEA. Within Sustainability, she has the oversight of the risks across the group and leads the engagement and positioning to deliver the firm’s purpose and values with regards to sustainability. Nasreen is very active in championing Diversity, Equity & Inclusive initiatives, mentoring social entrepreneurs and sponsoring global projects and is a SheEO Activator.   
       
   

Moderator:

Claude Brown is a partner in the Financial Industry Group of the law firm, Reed Smith. Based in London, he specialises in  the legal aspects and documentation of commodity financing and credit risk mitigation, as well as EU Regulation. He is head of Reed Smith’s Brexit task force, a team of over  25 lawyers located  in Europe, Asia and the UK, who advise a range of corporates, power, gas and oil traders, brokers exchanges, trade associations and commodity merchants on the impact of Brexit on their European and UK activities and how to prepare for it. Claude has over 30 years of market experience, both as a trader and lawyer and represents clients in Europe, Asia and North America. He has been involved in the IECA since its earliest days in Europe and is a frequent speaker at IECA events. He is a regular contributor on legal and regulatory matters in industry periodicals, books and journals. He lives in the Chilterns, Buckinghamshire, UK with his wife, son and his very disobedient dog.
