In this fireside chat, an expert panel of speakers will discuss the current pain points and provide insights on regulatory reporting in North America in 2022, addressing the most common challenges and what it takes to manage ongoing regulatory change. Justin McCarthy, CEO, PRMIA
Justin McCarthy has worked in roles in many firms, including Ulster Bank, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, PricewaterhouseCoopers and with the Irish Financial Regulator at the Central Bank of Ireland. This work has allowed him to see the changes in risk management since through and beyond the recent global financial crisis. His work on the PRISM risk based supervision framework with the Irish Financial Regulator included exposure to banking, funds and insurance risk practices as well as the quantitative work done on the related impact models and the challenge in feeding valid financial data to these models.

He is CEO of the Global Board of the Professional Risk Managers' International Association (PRMIA). This is a non-profit professional association, governed by a Board of Directors directly elected by its global membership. PRMIA is represented globally by over 50 chapters in major cities around the world, led by Regional Directors appointed by the Board. Previously he has served as the chair of the Global Board of PRMIA.

Justin has a BSc from University College Cork and an MBA from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business at University College Dublin. He recently completed his Corporate Director Certificate at Harvard Business School. He is originally from Schull, west Cork, Ireland and has two children.
  Sarah Reppchen, M.Sc., M.A., German CPA (Wirtschaftspruefer), Leader Financial Services Western Canada, Risk Advisory, Deloitte LLP 
Sarah Reppchen is the Co-Regional Director of the PRMIA Chapter Vancouver and leading Financial Services for Deloitte’s Risk Advisory practice in Western Canada. At Deloitte, she is responsible for supporting Financial Institutions across Western Canada managing the Regulatory and Risk Management challenges, especially Operational Risk creates one of the most imminent challenges. Sarah has over 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, especially in auditing and advising Enterprise Risk Management Functions concerning regulatory compliance in the context of the Basel III framework, as well as Vendor Risk Management Governance, Anti Money Laundering processes and Model Risk Management. Sarah’s primary experience was generated on large, complex banks (G-SIBs, D-SIBs), Credit Unions, investment management firms in Canada, Europe and on a global scale. Sarah has worked with the first, second, and third line of defense to inform on optimization opportunities while meeting regulatory requirements. She worked on behalf of EU Supervisory Authorities (ECB, BaFin, PRA) and supported on managing Regulatory Affairs with Regulators in North America. She was mandated by Regulators to support their audits of large banks concerning operational resilience, governance, development of control frameworks and policies meeting operational risk management and reporting requirements. Sarah qualifies as Wirtschaftspruefer, the German CPA (IFAC compliant).

  Guarav Chandra, Global Head of Product Management – OT&T and Tax – Regulatory Solutions, Adenza
Gaurav Chandra has designed and built Adenza's (AxiomSL) Trade and Transactions solution, ensuring that it is continuously enhanced and up to date with current regulations. He has over 15 years of experience consulting in the regulatory reporting space with a variety of FIs with a wide range of regulatory requirements both in APAC and here in Europe.
  Richard Moss, Global head of Risk Strategy, Regulatory Solutions, Adenza
Richard Moss, is the Global Product Leader for AxiomSL’s Risk Calculation and Risk Reporting product line. In his role at AxiomSL Richard has pioneered the creation of BCBS 239 compliant Data Dictionary led solutions for Counterparty Credit, Capital and Liquidity Reporting. The design work led by Richard and his team has helped Financial Institutions in Europe to consistently meet the changing landscape of EBA reporting requirements. In addition, this body of work has also been adapted for other jurisdictions that are closely aligned with Basel recommendations, Canada being one of them. Prior to joining AxiomSL, Richard led enterprise wide strategic regulatory reporting initiatives at Bank of America. His background includes assignments at Barclays Capital, where he was responsible for Equity Derivatives product control and an Audit function at Ernst & Young. Richard has a B.A. with Honours in Economics from Durham University and is a Chartered Accountant.

  Hany M. Farag, Senior Director, Head of Methodology and Analytics, CIBC
Hany Farag is Senior Director and Head of Risk Methodology and Analytics at CIBC. Prior to his current position he was a partner at Eastmoor Capital Partners, LLP; Managing Director and Head of FX Statistical Arbitrage at CIBC; and Head of Quantitative Research at OANDA Corporation. Prior to his industry positions he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Caltech and at Rice University. He holds a PhD in Mathematical Analysis from Yale, a MS in Theoretical Physics from Yale, and a BSC in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Ain Shams.
