Responding to the impact of the pandemic and geopolitical crisis, regulators expect a growing number of bank imbalances – to a certain extent because of the increase in NPL loans. Before the crisis, the related obligors could only be kept alive artificially thanks to the low interest rates and favorable economic conditions. Normally, they would have had to file for bankruptcy. However, governmental response to the crisis and additional support to those obligors extended their inefficient activity and only moved their potential bankruptcy to the future.
Most banks or asset managers cannot determine which corporate customers return to their full credit capacity after the crisis; and therefore, cannot activate required early warning and NPL management actions. Our AI based approach identifies relevant obligors and proposes enhanced adaptive actions with automated reporting of their efficiency.
Key takeaway: The use of AI tools to determine potential vulnerable sectors of corporate lending in stressful situations post-Covid-19 and geopolitical conflict situation.
